Illinois Right to Life is seeking a Outreach Assistant who is passionate about the pro-life cause and is ready to restore respect for life throughout Illinois in multiple ways. The Outreach Assistant will have the opportunity to work in a variety of areas including communications, development, event planning, and more.

Illinois Right to Life is a growing organization dedicated to protecting innocent human life from conception until natural death. Our work includes advocacy, direct aid to women and families in crisis, and education. We are a non-sectarian, non-partisan organization and are committed to winning Illinois for life.

Our offices are located in the Chicago Loop just two blocks from Union Station and we work on a hybrid schedule. This is a full-time position. Occasional evening and weekend work is required for events and breaking news.

Job Duties

• Assist in management of all IRL/IRLA social media accounts;
• Assist in managing Illinois Right to Life and Illinois Right to Life Action websites;
• Assist in management of weekly newsletter and email communications;
• Help draft press statements, fundraising appeals, marketing copy, and other internal and external communications pieces;
• Assist in the planning of Illinois Right to Life and Illinois Right to Life Action events;
• Help maintain relationships with Illinois Right to Life and Illinois Right to Life Action donors;
• Daily operations as needed (answering phone calls, e-mail inquiries, etc.)
• Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

• Strong belief in and dedication to IRL’s mission: To advocate for and educate on the value of all human life regardless of size, gender, race, age, or level of ability. Every day we work to make abortion, infanticide, assisted suicide, and euthanasia unthinkable;
• A bachelor’s degree in journalism, marketing, political science or a related field. Job experience may be substituted for a degree;
• Knowledge of social media platforms: Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and TikTok;
• Knowledge of WordPress preferred;
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
• Strong editing and proofreading skills;
• Detail-oriented;
• Proactive, goal-oriented, and extremely responsive;
• A team-player with a strong work ethic and the ability to maintain confidentiality.

Experience Needed:   This is an entry-level position. Previous paid or volunteer experience in the pro-life movement is preferred but not required.
