Description:
Event Planning:
● Maintain a working relationship with vendors and venues
● Understand the complex needs of different events
● Plan event aspects, such as venue, seating, dining, and guest list
● Attend to budget while planning event specifications
● Manage and oversee events on the day of, including problem-solving, welcoming guests, directing event set-up, communicating with staff, organizing vendors, and managing take-down
● Strong communication skills, and the ability to present event ideas and plans to the Executive Director
● Plan events as needed and directed by the Executive Director and/or Board, including but not limited to: Walk for Life, March for Life, LIFE Dinner, Mass for the Unborn, Mother’s Day Roses, Pro-Life Conference, Educational Booths, Lifesaver Sunday, October Student Contests, Pro-Life awareness Week, National Night of Prayer for Life and Monthly Membership Events
● Speak at events as requested by the Board and Executive Director
● Serve as a liaison between area colleges (University of Dubuque, Duhawks for Life/Loras College, Emmaus Bible College, Clarke University, UW-Platteville, etc.), coordinating any partnership events with the Executive Director and the Board along with each college’s student pro-life team
● Attend membership events as requested by the Executive Director and the Board
Create/Design:
● Coordinate publication of the monthly DCRTL newsletter
● Lead the development of brochures, cards, signs, advertisements, and other communication materials
● Coordinate social media posts and event posts with the Executive Director
● Manage website updates to ensure proper functioning and current content, or as directed by the ED
Other:
● Continually expand knowledge of current pro-life news
● Supervise volunteers as needed
● Other duties as directed by DCRTL Board or Executive Director
Requirements & Qualifications:
● Understanding of the pro-life mission and values of Dubuque County Right to Life, Inc.
● Proficiency in Microsoft Office Programs; Word, Excel, Publisher, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.
● Familiarity with Canva, Facebook, Instagram and Twitter, among other design and social media platforms; or willingness to learn how to best use these tools to further the mission of DCRTL
● Time management and organizational skills; demonstrated ability to meet deadlines
● Able to give and receive constructive criticism
● Exceptional creativity and innovation
● Excellent communicator and creative thinker
● A strong eye for visual composition
Experience Needed: Demonstrated experience in design, writing, and social media is appreciated.
