GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The Development Assistant (DA) supports the Administrative team with duties that further the goals of Life First Pregnancy Centers. One of the DA’s chief responsibilities is overseeing the ministry’s baby bottle campaign fundraiser. This position is 32 hours per week.
This position is located in office in Manassas, VA.
REPORTING & SUPERVISION
The Development Assistant supports the entire Administrative team and is supervised by the Development & Operations Manager.

- Ability to maintain respectful relationships with the Board of Directors, other staff and volunteers that foster communication and teamwork.
- Commitment to the Biblical standards of conflict resolution, including the ability to accept criticism and to offer rebuke with a spirit of humility.
- Adherence to Life First’s Policies and Procedures, including confidentiality.
JOB SPECIFIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience in office operations
- Good organizational skills
- Likes people and is relational
- Good decision making, problem solving, planning and implementation skills
- Ability to work with little or no supervision
- Ability to work in a team, fostering supportive and respectful relationships with the staff and volunteers
- Able to serve as a liaison for Life First to volunteers and churches
- Ability to coordinate and communicate well with volunteers
- Able to organize, motivate and work with churches and volunteers, and genuine care and relationship building with Life First volunteer champions
- Good computer skills. Including Microsoft Office, Google Suite, Dropbox and other cloud-based systems.
- Good communication skills-written and verbal
- Must be able to lift at least 20 pounds (baby bottle campaign) and have reliable transportation for bank deposits.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
Development Assistant Oversees the Baby Bottle Campaign, which is a key fundraiser for the ministry. The DA Coordinates with Administrative Team to ensure short- and long-term goals are achieved. Essential member of Administrative team to provide support across many areas.
BABY BOTTLE COORDINATOR:
- Coordinates trusted volunteers to count coins from baby bottles.
- Counts and verifies amounts for deposit.
- Coordinates with Church Relations Coordinator to reach out to local churches to host baby bottle campaigns
- Prepares baby bottles and instructions for church representatives
- Maintains Baby Bottles distribution records/contacts/results
- Maintains and counts bottles and supplies to know when it’s time to re-order
- Process returned bottles and printed materials
ADMINISTRATIVE:
- Assists the Admin staff through administrative support, event planning, mailings assembly, maintenance of files and other special projects as requested
- Coordinates volunteers for administrative functions
- Answers phone calls to the administrative offices
- Maintains Board Minutes and Documents
- Processes criminal background checks for staff and volunteers
ASSIST WITH BANK DEPOSITS:
- Copy all checks and prepare deposit slip
- Make bank deposit
- Attach all deposit paperwork together for Bookkeeper
- Maintains Administrative Volunteer list and coordinates administrative volunteers, as well as prayer warriors
- Attend staff meetings and events
- Data entry and updating for new donor system
- Maintain national and local media contact list
- Checks ministry PO Box
- Social Media marketing support
- Additional duties as required
DEVELOPMENT & CHURCH OUTREACH:
- Under Development & Operations Manager’s direction, implements donor process management, from prospect on. Includes mailings, emails and phone calls.
- Oversees birthday, sympathy, get well, etc. cards for supporters
- Event support and implementation
- Consolidate content for donor communications
- Manages application process for community events
- Ensures ample supply of donor materials and advise of when it’s time to re-order or reprint
- Assembles Pastor packets
- Schedules meetings for CEO with specific donors
- Provides support in various development and church relations efforts to include all major fundraising efforts
- Packs up ministry representatives for community events, festivals and church engagements
- Supports mailings and donor outreach
EVALUTION
The Development Assistant will receive a written and oral evaluation from the Development & Operations Manager
